Laurence Haddad was born on 30th May 1951 in Montreuil Sous-Bois.

She studied medicine at the Saint Antoine Faculty in Paris.

Her decision to become a cancerologist was confirmed during her time in Professor Laugier’s department, a centre for tumours at the Tenon Hospital. Her training took place mainly at the Assistance Publique Hospitals.

Her career as a part-time hospital practitioner covered a period of twenty-one years at the Inter Communal Hospital in Créteil where both the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire (University Teaching Hospital) centre for gynecology, with a particular emphasis on senology, the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire for pneumology with cancerology involvment and the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire for ORL (Ear, Nose & Throat) are situated.

In 2005 Dr. Haddad joined the staff of the Hôpital du Perpétuel Secours, on the west side of Paris, that was later re-named the Institut Hospitalier Franco-Britannique.

Alongside her activity in the public sector, in 1984, she treated patients at the Institut Henri Hartmann where, to begin with, treatments were delivered by two apparatuses only, one of which was a cobalt machine.

In 1997 Dr. Haddad took on the management of the Radiotherapy Centre overlooking the improvement and evolution of the technical deck as well as fulfilling the function of Human Resources Manager given the growing numbers of staff dedicated to cancerology. She has continued this activity to this day at the Centre de Radiothérapie Hartmann that has now moved to a more functional building with state of the art equipment :

•  5 high technology radiotherapy machines, of which one is at the cutting edge of today’s technology, the Cyber Knife.

with an ever increasing staff : doctors, physicists, dosimetrists, receptionists, care assistants, researchers, further projects giving emphasis to the overall care of patients in cancerology, in optimal humane and technical conditions, making cancerology not only a profession but also a passion.
